So You’re Thinking of Moving …
But you’re scared about doing it during a pandemic.
Information is changing daily, and we all have questions about how to protect ourselves and each other. If you are planning a move during the COVID-19 outbreak or have already secured a move date, we hope that this information will help keep you and your loved ones safe!
Here are some questions that you need to ask the moving company that you are considering for the job:
-
Can you provide a quote over the phone?
Avoiding in-person contact is an important step in limiting the spread of COVID-19. Most moving companies should be able to understand your needs and provide a strategy and quote for your move over the phone. Your best bet is getting in contact with a moving company and asking them what information they need from you to provide a virtual moving quote.
-
What precautions do you recommend I take during my move?
We recommend that everyone follows basic protocol related to social distancing, hygiene and disinfecting practices. This includes:
Refrain from any physical participation in the move
Disinfect furniture and other belongings before your movers arrive
Maintain a 6-foot distance from movers and drivers as they work
Dispose of all packing materials once the move is complete -
What will you do if you discover that a worker or customer has been diagnosed with COVID-19?
If a worker or customer indicates that they have been positively diagnosed, there should be a process in place to analyze all potentially affected equipment, crew members and customers. The company should be prepared to communicate all information with affected individuals and quarantine items, equipment, and personnel accordingly.
